As believers in Yeshua, we are (and have always been) a set-apart group. Now that we have seen governmental upheaval and we will likely see more oppressive moves against God's people, what do we do? How do we move on, even if this all hasn't been corrected.
We have discussed how to plant a garden and how to begin thinking of being part of the land. Will we need to live off the land? Maybe not. It depends on your situation. Let's look at ways to take care of one's self and family, keeping in mind Yeshua is our Bread of Life. He is truly the one who sustains us. Let's look at the idea of self-preservation and survival in the end times.
Self-preservation advice is free and scattered around everywhere. Then there will be no problem regarding life, happiness and success, there would be no pool of experts on every media platform. Much of it is rubbish. That is why we must dig deeper into the truth of the Word and listen to the Holy Spirit.
What would you do if you are trapped in an environment that you do not want to be in? What if your state has commanded that you do not attend worship services, or even leave your house?
If there's nothing we can do to solve this dilemma, how do we live through it?
It is possible to take inspired and motivated action to survive your present situation, and even thrive in the process.
It is not that easy though. You will have to come out of your comfort zones to discover potentials and opportunities waiting for you. You have to conquer your fear and take calculated risks. You have to stay focused and persevere despite the difficulties you will encounter.
Overcoming does not come easy. It takes heart, passion and time. Experience is also a factor. We need to identify our personal giftings and connect with those who can work with us in their own skills and talents. In other words, I believe God is building His super team. This process of uniting with others in the Kingdom needs to be intentional.
In many cases you have to work harder, dig deeper, and sacrifice more. But no, you do not have to hate the world and feel bad when you encounter difficult situation. Keep in mind, the Savior's command to love one another and do not be stained by the world's hatred.
What can you do? Below are some key tips to help you when facing these difficult times in history. They will also serve as your guide to improve your life.
1. Learn to be content in your current situation. See all the positive sides of life. Be enthusiastic. Love your boss, your coworkers, your family, your friends, and even strangers that you meet on the streets. Remember to be as Paul was, and learn to be content and happy in all circumstances. Phil 4:13
It may not be easy, but nothing is impossible with a strong faith in His goodness. Just do not confuse love with losing reality and joining the enemy's side. No need for Stockholm syndrom to kick in. Love, but keep in mind the true nature of our religion - widows, orphans, unstained.
2. Balance is the key. Dream and take some positive action to move you toward your goals. Take it one step at a time. Make actual goals to assure your safety and provision.
Do you have an emergency plan - for hurricane, power outages, political over-turn, etc? It doesn't take a so-called "Zombie Apocylypse" to put your family in serious danger. Think of the fact that for many years, collecting rain water has been illegal in Colorado. So, if the water system went down, you have no collection system to sustain yourself. So, it is important to have your reserves built up.
People differ on their philosophy regarding the level of "prepping for survival." No matter what your eschatology, I think we can all see trials and tribulations in history. It is important to learn from major events in history, so that we don't suffer more than we are able. Be ready in season and out, but...
3. Fear not. Do not criticize others when it seems that you are becoming more inspired than they are. Try to help them. Inject your positive attitude into their lives. Be a blessing. Not a curse. When you give unto others, you will receive greater rewards.
Are you ready to begin the journey? Start it with the courage and desire to get ready, and improve your life. Survive and go through it with persistence, enthusiasm, and positive thinking. Finish it with a resounding bang of accomplishment and with the desire to help others succeed as well.
There are many other aspects to self-preservation that will get as you get on with your daily life. Take note that you are not alone. There are others in much more difficult situations. That is why if you see a shortage of free advice about self-preservation, you can get from other believers who are only too happy to help.
Next time you visit your fellowship, be open to heavenly connections with other believers.
